Saturday
night ballroom dances. Hawaiian Island Dance May 10th. This dance caters
to the beginning ballroom dancer. We will primarily play music for
Foxtrot, Swing (slow and fast), Waltz, Rumba, Tango, Cha Cha, and Merengue.
Snacks and punch will be provided and if you would like to share one of
your specialties feel free to bring it along. TNT couples will be there
for support and to greet you and assist if you have questions about some of the
figures you have learned but have now forgotten; but remember its a dance not a teaching
session. Dress up in your favorite Hawaiian shirt or Muu-Muu or come in casual dress.
Gentlemen; its a great time to make your lady happy. Cost is $5 at the
door or $4 in advance. Send us your check or pay us prior to the dance to
receive your discounted tickets.
June Classes
Sundays
- Swing 1
with Larry and Rae. 12:00 - 1:30. This class will introduce the student to Vintage East
Coast Swing. A number of introductory figures will be taught in Swing
1getting you ready to swing with the best of them. We need a minimum
of 8 paid registrations to run this class. If you would like to attend
the class, please register and pay in advance.
Beginning Belly Dancing Class
with Rebecca. This class will help you tone up those muscles and work
your center. It is a great exercise program and a little ballet posture and arm styling into the class you will
improve your overall ballroom dancing. This is a continuous running class and
the cost is $7 per class or $25 for the 4 weeks. This class
runs from 2:30-3:30 pm.
Advanced Salsa Class
with Luisito. This class is for
Salsa dancers who are at a relatively high level of dancing. If you
would like to join this class you must have permission of the instructor.
This 6 week class starts June 1st from 8:00-9:30 pm and the cost is
$35 for the 6 weeks.
Mondays
- Shim Sham and Aerial Basics
with Larry and Rae and Kevin and Megan. This 5 week class will teach
the Shim Sham for two weeks and then some aerial basics for introduce you to the Lindy
and is a great addition to your swing dancing.
This
5 week class will cost $60/couple and
$35/single and starts June 2nd.
Tuesdays
- Beginner Line Dance
Tuesdays 7:00-8:00 pm & Intermediate Line Dance
Tuesdays 8:00-9:00 pm with Phyllis. This 6 week class starts May 12th
and continues through June 16th. These 6 week classes will costs $35
per person. The Beginner class will
teach more basic line dances and the Intermediate class will teach harder
and more complex line dances.
Wednesdays
- Ballroom Basics and More
with Aimee - Wednesdays 6:00-7:30 pm will be a beginning level class and
from 7:30 - 9:00 pm will be and intermediate level class of the same dances.
This class starts June 4th
and continues through
July 16th. This 7 week class will cost $110/couple and $60/single. Aimee will be teaching
Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Night Club 2 Step, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, and
Country 2 step. There will be 2 different classes at 2 different
levels.
Salsa Level 1
7:00-8:00 pm with Luisito. This 4 week course starts May 7th and continues
through May 28th and will cost $55 couple and $30 single. These classes will
introduce the basics of "in-line style salsa" and the basics of "cuban style
salsa". Cuban style salsa is the foundation of dancing the Salsa Rueda in
the Level 2 course. The objective of this Level 1 course is to make the
student familiar with the basics of both styles and provide students with
the ability to dance at the various weekly salsa dances around Des Moines.
Salsa Level 2 (Rueda)
8:00-9:00 pm with Luisito. This 4 week course starts May 7th and continues
through May 28th and will cost $55 couple and $30 single.
Salsa Rueda is a group
salsa dance similar to a line dance but danced in partnership to salsa
music. It is a high energy salsa dance style (and loads of fun and easy to
learn) where the objective is to dance a short salsa figure and pass your
dance partner to the next person and pick up your next dance partner for the
next figure. (The following link is a more advanced form of Rueda but this
is basically how much fun the Salsa Rueda can be.

- because the Rueda can only be danced with an even number of leaders and
followers, the instructor will review the list of people interested in
taking the course to ensure an even leader/follower balance. We highly
encourage you to bring a partner if you can - otherwise - we will do our
best to achieve an even balance.
Thursdays
- International Tango
with
Jim and Suzi ~ Thursday 7:00-8:30 pm. The International Tango is a
different style and slightly faster than American Tango. We will start
with the basic steps in International Tango and progress as far through the
bonze figues as possible during this 4 week class. This class is for students who
already know a number of dances and in particular the American Tango.
Students should know 4-6 figures in American Tango or this class will be
quite difficult. This 4 week class will cost $55/couple and
$30/single.
Fridays
- Samba
with
Markus ~ Fridays 7:00-8:00 pm. This 4 week class will teach the basic
steps and continue through as many of the bronze steps as possible. This class is for students who already know a
some dances and are ready for a faster dance. Beginning dancers who do not
already dance 2-4 dances will find this class somewhat difficult. This dance
has different technique than most of the rhythm and Latin dances and will
require some different movements. This 4 week class will cost $55/couple
or
$30/single.
July Classes of note
Tuesdays

- Summer Dance Club with
Jim and Suzi. This class will be on Tuesdays from 7:00 - 8:30 pm starting May 6th.
There will be 2 nine week sessions covering Foxtrot, Swing, Waltz, Rumba, Merengue, Tango, and Cha Cha along
with 2 specialty dances during the 9 weeks. The last class of the first session will end on July 1st.
The second 9 weeks will start on July 1st and continue through August 26. Dances will be taught at
beginning and
intermediate levels.
Either 9
week course will cost $110/couple with pre-registration a requirement as
limited space is available and it is a couples only class.
NOTE!!!
You may also sign up for the entire
17 weeks for only $180 per couple and this will include the "Grill and Prom"
dance on August 16th. (A $60 savings
over individual classes plus buying tickets to the "Grill and Prom" dance.)
